The world's highest-quality and most secure denominated paper cryptonote that you can hold in your hands.
Noteworthy is a denominated paper cryptonote: a physical representation of Bitcoin in various denominations, combining the utility and security of paper money with the architecture of digital currency. I led app platform design for the digital companion to the physical product, in collaboration with the founding team.

I worked closely with Peter Vessenes (Founding Chairman of the Bitcoin Foundation), Larry Felix (former Director of the US Bureau of Engraving and Printing), and Manuela Pfrunder (the Swiss designer known for the ninth series of Swiss franc banknotes and the US $20 bill).

Their combined expertise was critical to understanding the mechanics of digital currencies and the design, functionality, and regulatory considerations of issuing physical banknotes that bridge them.

A rapid design sprint to create the app platform for user interaction with the crypto banknotes. Drawing on Peter, Larry, and Manuela's expertise, I synthesized their considerations into a first iteration of the UI, while gaining a real-world education in managing digital currencies and designing physical banknotes.

Noteworthy was a chance to design at the seam between the world we know and the world that's emerging: the physical banknote, the digital asset, and the chain underneath both. The most interesting product work right now lives at these seams, where brand, software, hardware, and regulation all need to be held under one mind. A short sprint with extraordinary collaborators, and a room that teaches you what's possible when two industries finally agree to talk.
